Description: Two
birds in opposing positions as if in battle.
Theme: Phoenix
are mythological birds of great beauty that pantheistically symbolize immortality.
(Egypt/China/South America).
These fantastic creatures rise up rejuvenated, regenerated, and
purified from the flames and ashes of devastation and destruction.
Artist's Statement:
" It is said that only one Phoenix can exist at any one time. I have
chosen to represent a magical moment in which two Phoenix struggle for survival through
supremacy as well as survival through purification (symbolized by flame).
The Lotus flower (Nelumbium nelumbo), common name: " Sacred
Lotus", symbolizes perpetual life in Buddhism. Used here, the Lotus
suggests the 'yin' element of water in relation to the 'yang' element of fire, conveying
the perpetual cycle of birth, death, and regeneration.
