 " Sipapu and
the Snake"

In many Native American cultures, the
inner world is accessed through a symbolic hole in the Earth, the 'Earth Mother Navel' or
'sipapu'. Wisdom people learn to travel this access-way to other 'realities' that
parallel the super-conscious mind. The understanding these seekers gain returns with
them to aid themselves and their people.
The snake is an ancient symbol of knowledge in many cultures. She guards the
entrance to the Dream World - the 'sipapu' - that is revealed in the pottery forms and
designs. |
